Most of our forum members have websites for their businesses and these often play a part in bringing in new business to a varying degree.
Besides the question about how well your website converts, do you ever wonder where your website visitors or traffic comes from?
Hopefully, everyone who has a business website and is reading this will carry out some sort of analysis on their website visitor statistics i.e.
what websites refer visitors,
what search engines refer visitors,
what search phrases are bringing visitors in,
when the most popular times for visiting are,
what countries visitors are based in,
what webpages are most popular,
what path through your website is most popular,
what page most people leave the site at
The list goes on and on...
Now there are many ways to attract visitors to your website, but let's consider two of the most fundamental ways; they're either paid for i.e. banner advertising on other websites or pay per click (PPC) via your favourite search engine or they're free i.e. your website is found in organic search results (they're called organic because they're not interfered with like PPC).
There are many, many ways to improve where your website ranks in organic listings and you really can spend a lot of money on search engine optimisation, but one of the biggest factors is also one of the most powerful in determining what the search engines like Google and Yahoo think about your website.
Just altering this one little thing can have an effect many times greater than the amount of time and energy you'll spend otherwise on trying to improve your search engine rankings. You might think that such a powerful technique will be difficult, technical or just plain expensive, but you would be wrong.
So what little, wonderous technique am I talking about and is it really so great? After years spent in the field of search engine marketing and having a lot of success I can hold my hand up and say that it really is that good. It's completely legitimate and I can see a lot of members who could benefit from it.
