Private Security Industry Act 2001

If you are responsible for the security of property and premises, including patrols, surveillance, cash in transit, guarding people against assault and handling dogs for security purposes and employed under contract you will require a licence.

Security Standards Solutions can deliver the new qualifying training as laid down by SIA legislation for licences in the manned guarding sector - namely Static & Patrol and Retail.

We consider ourselves to be highly flexible and believe that customer delight is paramount - with this in mind, we are able to offer either on site training or training at a pre-booked venue

Core competency training is delivered in two parts as follows:

Part One -

Knowledge based training and assessment (22 hours)

· Role and responsibilities of security officers

· Customer care and social skills

· Fire safety

· Health and safety

· Dealing with incidents and emergencies

· The Law (civil and criminal)

· Procedures for the control of keys and equipment

· Assignment instructions

· Reporting

Part Two -

Practical scenario based training and assessment (7 hours)

· Communication skills

· Conflict management

These subjects may be delivered over 4 days with an average course day of 7 hours or, trainers may adopt a more flexible approach to delivery using weekends and/or a combination of evening sessions.
