It's a fact, making good quality posts in the forum helps to raise your business' profile.

"How?" You might ask.

Well, in the eyes of the three major search engines (that make up over 80% of all search engine usage), the BusinessMix.co.uk forum is a source of good content.

This is demonstrated by the fact that Google has assigned it a Page Rank (http://www.google.com/technology/) of 4.

<a href="http://www.mypagerank.net" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.mypagerank.net/smerankcheck.php?site=www.businessmix.co.uk&s=style1" border="0" alt="This is my Google PageRank™ - SmE Rank free service Powered by Scriptme"></a>

Users of our free press release service get even more benefit from the website's search engine rankings. For example, the following search terms have been used in press releases issued here. Follow their links to see how well those press releases rank in Google (the most difficult search engine to rank in):

artist donates work to Hope University (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=artist+donates+work+to+Hope+University)
Major Order to NHS Trust Hospital (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=Major+Order+to+NHS+Trust+Hospital)
The Cornerstone Gallery (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=The+Cornerstone+Gallery&meta=cr%3DcountryUK%7CcountryGB)

This shows that anyone searching for those terms will come across the press released issued right here!

Also, try these more generic searches:

artist Hope University (http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=artist+Hope+University)
Cornerstone Gallery uk (http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=Cornerstone+Gallery+uk)

Not only does our free press release service offer you this great benefit for zero cost, but by taking an active participation in the forum, you can increase the number of inbound links to your own website.

When you consider that every link to your website counts as a 'vote' in popularity, the more posts you make, the more votes you get.

So if you want to start promoting your business online then you should get posting!

I have never seen it rank more than 2/10.

Sorry, I don't follow... What rank 2/10 in what?

This was actually sent as a private message to you

Also "It's a fact, making good quality posts in the forum helps to raise your business' profile." was put in as the Title of the post and not as the quote, which was "This is demonstrated by the fact that Google has assigned it a Page Rank of 4."

However, by 2/10 I mean 'Googles Page Rank of 2'.

We can follow up the private messaging elsewhere (I've just sent one to you and it seems to have worked okay), but with regards to the forum, if you have a Page Rank indicator on your web browsers toolbar (or if you look back in the first post in this thread) and visit the forum home page (http://www.businessmix.co.uk) then you should see a definite Page Rank of 4 :)

The best ways to get onto the home page is to either submit a press release (which subsequently gets approved) or to get your post to appear in the "recent posts" box.

How strange  When I look at the Page Rank indicator on my web browsers toolbar (in My Favourites) it is now showing a Page Rank of 3 (previously 2).

If I click on the link that you have provided i.e. visit the "forum home page", I see a Page Rank of 4.

Page Rank is assigned on a page by page basis and it's quite normal to see a range of values across a website.

Google dance has just taken place... that is every month Google updates some of it's systems so the PageRank has probably changed... hence the confusion.

PageRank is basically the likelihood that your website will be found if your randomly on another page. If you get that I can quote the basic formula if you like but unless you have a maths degree it will put your head in a spin.

And according to my Google toolbar is 4 at the mo for the main page which should be the page with the highest ranking.
