Following the success of the dot-art group show at the Cornerstone Gallery at Hope University, Peter Corbett, one of the participating artists has generously donated his work "Spiritus Mundi" to the University.
The abstract painting, an example of Peters distinctive “double edging” technique, was presented by the artist and Lucy Byrne of dot-art to the Dean of Hope University, Bill Chambers at the Hope at Everton campus where it will now be on permanent display.
The work was one of a pair shown in the exhibition, the other being donated to Liverpool John Moores University. Following the acquisition of several of Peters larger paintings by the University of Liverpool after his Solo Retrospective exhibition held at the University's Senate Hall during last years Liverpool Biennial, the artist is now represented in the art collections of all of the city's main seats of higher education.
Peter is a well established Liverpool artist who studied at the Liverpool School of Art under Maurice Cockerill and at Manchester College of Art under Brian Neiland. He has exhibited extensively over the past thirty years, both nationally and internationally and been awarded many awards throughout Europe and the USA including the Vincent Van Gogh Award (2000), International Peace Prize (2002) and the Albert Einstein International Academy Foundation. Last year he was also shortlisted for the Lexmark European Art Prize.
The artist describes the inspiration for his art;
“My work has developed from researches into cells, water and organic forms in the 1970's and fractal geometry and chaos theory in the 1980's and 90's. It also trys to convey my experiences during meditation and the states of consciousness that accompany it. “
A selection of Peters original and limited edition work can be bought exclusively through the dot-art website (http://www.dot-art.co.uk)
