Just another day at the office?
Building a business from the ground up for the very first time is hard. You will experience failure daily.
And if you get emotionally involved with these failures(learning) experiences, it will cause you pain and will eventually stop you doing the things that cause the pain. And Bam!. You're done unless your 'reason why' is big enough and strong enough to push you onward.
One of my early mentors pointed out that true professionals feel no differently about success and failure. They are just part of everyday business and treated as such.
And that is the key
Today, everyday, is just another day at the office. It's fun, I love what I do, but the emotional highs and lows have gone.
In short, I've grown up into a professional.
I actually 'lost' one of my best team members a few weeks ago, but I didn't lose a wink of sleep over it. I didn't waste a second wondering why. I didn't whine or complain.
It just did not matter, because I knew where I was going and I'll get there no matter who comes and goes. The decision was made, so the emotional roller coaster came to an end.
Now it was just time to GO TO WORK EVERY DAY and treat the good and the bad for what they really are, just another day at the office.
The irate calls from customers who forgot that I had already sent the information twenty fours hours earlier, just another day at the office. The no-shows for follow-ups, just another day at the office,The person who talks big and then disappears from view, just another day at the office. The new agent bringing 100 agents from another company, just another day at the office.
On an emotional scale of 1 - 10 I keep it at about seven. I have enthusiasm. I have urgency, But that doesn't change according to the day-to-day, hour-to-hour events that happen during my working day.
