Hello!

My name is Emma Sweeney and I am in the process of launching the company Alternativ Model Management. Oh, so much to do and learn!

Hi Emma,

Welcome to the Forum.

Do you have any previous experience in this field that you are about to embark on?

Hi Emma and welcome to the forum.

I notice you're based in the Parr Street Studios. We used to hold our networking meetings there!

How did you get to where you are now (and heading to)?

You seem to have a lot of models on your books for just starting out!

Hi Michael! Hi Will! Hi Pilfo! Thanks for the welcome :)

Yes, I've worked as a model and singer for the past, ooo, ten or so years; but I work solely as a singer since 2004 with the odd modelling job thrown in if asked nicely! I've also worked as a promoter and sourced models and dancers for different acts at the record label so I thought I would put this experience to good use. Since mid-2006 I only really have to work once or twice a month so I've been planning the agency since then, hence why I've managed to start with a fairly ample-sized roster. My first idea was to start a music management company or session agency but I decided it would be a conflict of interest as I would want to keep all the good jobs for myself :P Whereas with models, I love fashion but have no interest in pursuing a modelling career.

I've already been targeted with a smear campaign by another Liverpool agency - who would see quite plainly that our models are far from standard commercial if they bothered to look at the site properly, hence we are not in direct competition, pfff - but it's only serving to point more inquisitive people in our direction so I am just ignoring them. So far I am relying on lots of help from kind friends and business relations and chose Parr Street as I have practically lived there since it opened because of my music and related networking (and the house wine).

Hi Emma, a belated welcome to the forum! I've been out of the loop for a while but its nice to see some new faces around here.

So you're working out of Parr St? That's where we used to meet up - perhaps we should organise a meet-up in May? (Will, Pilfo - what do you think?).

Don't be put off with what your competitors are saying - persevere and you'll do well.

Hope to meet you (and the rest of the guys) soon!

Les
