Keywords is a term that's bandied around quite a bit, but does everyone understand what it actually means and does everyone use the same definition?

basically it's the phrase you put into a Search Engine query box.

To be honest, it was a bit of an open question as I've come across many people talking about targetting their websites for specific keywords and phrases and sometimes I've wondered whether or not they understood why they were doing so!
